Mediatek launches MT2621 IoT chipset
MediaTek makes a step into the IoT world with its latest chip announcement. The MT2621 SoC is built to enable extended coverage, cross-market application with network transition function and phone calls. This means devices like smart trackers, wearables and IoT devices. The dual-mode IoT SoC is capable of both NB-IoT R14 and GSM/GPRS connectivity. It can support one SIM card with antenna that covers both cellular networks. The wideband front-end module supports all ultra-low/low/mid bands defined by the 3GPP Rel-14, meaning a single design can address worldwide markets for a lower cost and development time. Specs-wise, the MT2621 has a single ARMv7 CPU running at 26 MHz and 160 KB + 4 MB embedded memory. It supports Linux-based apps and comes with LCM, camera and audio AMP interfaces. There is also Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity. |
